Integral (Rim) Polyurethane

Rim parts are high density, hard, impact resistant and robust. They are formed as a result of injection of specially prepared two-component polyurethane systems into the mold with the help of high-pressure machines. Especially the outer parts of the cars are produced from RIM.

It has a widespread use in the automotive industry. RIM, which is used in the production of many parts in the automotive industry, consists of the initials of these three English words.

Reaction: It starts with a mixture of two or more components.
Injection: It is the process of transferring the mixture into a mold.
Molding: It forms the desired part as a result of curing by shaping the poured mixture.

Integral Polyurethane Systems

Polyurethane foams can be rigid, flexible, semi-rigid or semi-flexible depending on the properties of the POLIOL SYSTEM and ISOCYANATE that used. Foams with a flexible and open cell inner structure, a hard shell and partially stretchable foams are called INTEGRAL foams, briefly INTEGRAL PU (polyurethane). Integral polyurethanes are sometimes also called SEMI- RIGID PU FOAM. The most important properties of SEMI-RIGID foams are shock absorption, quenching and absorption. For this reason, they are mostly used for vibration suppression and noise-sound isolation.

Integral Polyurethanes are used in the production of final parts, just like RIMs. The part that comes out of the mold goes either to the shelf or to the trash. For this reason, the trio of raw materials, molds and machines must be fully compatible. Undoubtedly, the mold-release or in-mold paints used also must be chosen with the same elaboration.

Integral polyurethanes are extensively used in the automotive industry and Office furniture industry.

Elastomer Polyurethane Systems

High density non-swelling polyurethane systems are called elastomers. When the prepolymer (isocyanate) or polyurethane resin is changed, the products are also called polyurethane rubber.
